Dell - need help

Hi,
last week I ordered a Dell inspiron 8600 and apparently i have found out that dell has charged me for my notebook but canceled the order and i will not recieve a laptop. They don't seem to be clear how they did this but either way i would like to know 2 things:

1. any ideas how this happened or what to do now
2. i am considering going to a different company for an equally good laptop replacement. The inspiron 8600 has everything i wanted and after reading the review on this website I liked it even more considering it had a good keyboard and monitor and looked nice. So i would like to know what other laptops are out there that are on par or better than the inspiron 8600. Basically all the same options that the inspiron offered as a mobile desktop replacement. Thanks.

btw aside from the nice keyboard and look and monitor i ordered the 128 mb ati video card, p-m proccessor, and 512 ddr ram x1 if this helps at all. Thanks ahead of time i am not too knowledgable as far as whats out there so i am relying on this thread after i found nothing searching on my own. thnx.

It's worth the trouble and the wait. You'll need to call and have a rep track down your order. Have you considered a refurbished one. Save lots of bucks and they work like a dream and a lot less wait.
