    Hello guys,

    How many of you have ordered the laptop from India? What is your experience?

    I ordered on 13th November and got an EDD of 26th November. Called them up on 26th November and they said it will definitely come on 1st December and offered me a free blutooth headphones.

    I called yesterday and today and the dell representative is not picking up her phone. Called the direct number and they said it hasn't come cause of a change in shipping address. I never once changed my shipping address.

    Anyone know a number of a dell representative I can call (a direct number) to get this all sorted and get the laptop here?

    I had ordered the laptop on 6th of OCT 2009 and my order got cancelled and a new order was posted everytime my order got cancelled. i hope my latest order will on 3rd of december as my previous EDD was 30th of November.

    Anyone received thier laptop or got any confirmation that the manufacturing or build is complete.

    The mobile number of the dell representative will be mentioned in the quotation sent to you Crazysah

    Is it that the dell guy offered a bluetooth headset for the delay in delivery. :p

    Is your tracking number working?

    The dell representative called up and said there would be more delays. My dad is now demanding free upgrades. Lets see what happens.

    The dell *woman* offered a bluetooth headset for the delay in deliver. Hopefully more stuff now.

    @Virtualsk - Who were you in contact with? I was with some Anna woman...

    I ordered Laptop from Deepti. why dont you try sending mail instead of calling ?
    Generally, their mails are being tracked, so you may get reply soon.

    I used to call her and ask about my order...but then I stopped wasting my money. I drop a mail and normally i get reply soon.

    Current Status: Work In Progress
    Estimate Delivery Date: To be advised. Please check this site at later time. For further enquiries please submit your request: here.

    Just says work in progress since day 1. It used to say deliver date of 26th November.

    If this is your first order, then your order is still in Production and will be built soon.
    i order on 16th Oct, and today it got into Manufacturing Build Complete.

    Wait for a while, and do check Order Status regularly...Frankly, Calling Dell will only cost you money.

    Your order is still in production...which mean, it will take a while to build.
    Mine is order originally on 16th Oct, and i got into Manufacturing Build Complete state today.
    .... Wait for a while...Check Order Status page regularly and you will get EDD soon...

    Calling Dell will only cost you money,...instead do conversasion on phone.

    Yes. It is my first order. My dad is the one who is talking to them. He doesn't like it being delayed for so long. Should I just cancel it and re-order it and try and get a free 6GB RAM upgrade or something?

    If it does get cancelled then how will I get to know?

    You will have to ask your Contact Person to get new Order number if current order is
    canceled.
    You can go for HP if you wish to..

    So you think it has been cancelled?

    They are saying it will be delivered on Wednesday now... I don't know how true that is...

    what is the status of your order on Dell Order Status page ?
    that is what your current status is....i am not saying that its canceled...but if it is , you will get new order number from dell...

    I would not recomend buying any other machine in comparision of XPS 1645.
    except , you are buying Alienware.

    Well, my dad is getting really fed up. I just wrote an email for him to send. It was a very angrily toned email. Basically I asked for compensation and/or upgrades or else I would cancel. Let's see what happens now...

    My order status still says Work In Progress ever since day 1. Lets see what happens.

    You will be lucky if you get any of that...as i told mine took around 3 orders to go into Manufacturing Build Complete.

    If you cancel if, they wont mind it but you will not get your money back soon...due to so called process dell have....If your dad is in hurry, you better cancel it and go for HP.

    Just got an update. My dad never sent the mail. I checked the status online and the order was cancelled this morning. My dad then sent a really angrily toned mail. I also saw him send the mail. Hopefully something can be done of this now...

    Got a msg 2day from blue dart that i'll be getting my laptop tomorrow.
    I'm too excited now after more than two months of wait(initial order date 3rd Oct)
    I also got a belkin backpack and a mouse as a compensation.

    I think, this is the best you can get in given amount of money. I dont feel at all , that i wasted my money.

    I have ordered the same config...did you get it with leather coating or without that. Hardly matters. Did you had any freezing issues

    I got it without leather...and Its hardly matters...however, leather looks bad i guess.

    I did not find any freezing issue..but i do recomend reinstalling OS since, they are installing on 500 GB partition, which makes it bit slow.

    Thanks for quick reply. I wanted to know 2 more things. When doing reinstall, did you remove the recovery partitions or kept intact? Is it of any use after re install?
    From where do you get updated drivers and bios update?

    I am yet to reinstall OS. I am not sure, what to do with Recovery partition, but i might keep it.
    You will get all updated drivers from Dell online. there is a BIOS update which is must.

    Did you get it with the 90W Power adapter or the 130 one?

    Also, my dad's laptop is finally going to ship. It is in the manufacture build complete stage and the dell person said it would ship by Monday latest!

    The laptop is amazing! I got it for around 75,000 rupees. I got a free blutooth headset and I am getting a free laptop bag and some other stuff.

    Nothing wrong with the laptop so far. Evyerthing is just right.
