Dell - 10 Days of Deals

14 - 24th July is the ten days of deal promotion.

I was just wondering have they done these before and just how good were the deals? Any change of there being any XPS laptops in it? Or is it usually the lower end systems that go on offer as they are typically closer to a students budget?

It seems as though the promotion is aimed at students so i'm not sure if the XPS would be included. I know nobody knows for sure but maybe they have done a similar offer last year?

I'd like to order quite soon-ish but I don't see the point when if I hold out I may get a deal.

Do we ever get the 20% or 25% deals in the UK anybody know?

 

10 Days of Deals is good only if you settle for a configuration thats pretty good, but not the best, but you intend to pay for it as is.

Though the 20-25% discount is great for people who want to MAX out their configuration without getting the 4 gigs of ram at ripoff prices from dell or that Verizon broadband card that might come with it.

 

I'd like to configure my own but I wouldn't want the full spec anyway.

I'd prefer to fit my own extra RAM as long as this doesn't void the warranty on it. Ram is dirt cheap these days even for decent stuff. Dell aren't the worst for memory upgrades when compared to others, but i'd just get it myself.

I don't know whether to wait for a voucher to come up or just phone them and haggle down the price.

 

Sorry, correction to what I said, configurability is best with the 25% and 20% off coupon. With the 10 Days of Deals, you basically get what they offer. They often limit options you can get and stuff and like I said, throw in 4 gigs of ram when you could easily choose less with the custom configuration, then use the 25% off coupon to save loads of money.

Why would you want your deal to go towards that verizon broadband card when you could get a better processor or hard drive?

 

I think I got a pretty sweet deal the last 10 days of dell deals back in June.

 

Hmm I wonder if any of these 20 - 25% codes will show up for the UK site any time soon. They just "changed" their offers today as the previous ones expired on 9th July, but to be honest they have just put the exact same offers on again and they will end at the end of the month.

I'm talking about the standard "offers" they do where they knock off things like £80, which isn't really knocked because they never sold them at the higher price any way I don't think.

 

20% to 25% off coupons have never appeared in the UK and have only shown up in the US. So I'd say it most likely won't ever show up. :/

25% off coupon expires on the 15th. I'd say best time to order is the 15th, so you get it around probably 25th, then because of 21 day return period... if Montevina does come out early August into Dell... you have to option of returning if you really really really want to shell out the dough for it.

We always pay higher prices and get less discount on technology here in the UK compared to the US.

I saw somebody on here earlier say that 25% isn't much of a discount, couldn't believe it lol. That would be fantastic if we got that here.

If I ordered from the Dell US site could I save money? My girlfriends dad works there a lot and I could probably get it delivered to him. But would I have to return it to America if there was anything wrong or if it needed repairs under warranty?

I'd obviously need to get some sort of adapter to use it here too? But comparing the prices you can get a decent spec 1530 for $1000 at the moment, where as the base spec here starts at about £590.

If your in the UK and your after a discounted laptop i'd say give the outlet a go. If your not happy you can back it and then pay full price. My M2300 looked new when I opened the box and i've saved about 40pct off book price.

I know they are listed as refurbished or cancelled orders and I figured if you hold out for a latest processor model it's more than likely to be a cancelled order as how old can it be.... Mine came with a T9500 so I guess it probably falls into that catagory rather than a refurb... just a guess mind you.

What are "10days of deals" about - if price of configured 1330 is in the end the same as "10days of deals" offer ?

On day 7 of the deals (Sunday) there's a deal on the XPS, don't know what it is or how good it is yet but hey... it might be ok...

If you want a good XPS you can get one with a T8100, 3GB RAM, 320GB HD, 9 Cell Battery and an 8600GT at the moment for £699 from the small buisness UK website. So it's not that bad. This price lasts until the end of July. You can get one with the same specs for £728 from the home website.

I'm dying to buy mine now, I'm so sad, I've got all the apps ready to put on it and an ubuntu CD as well as loads of tutorials on getting better performance, battery life etc.

Let's just wait and see...

 

The 10 days of Deals was pretty good this year. I almost picked up a loaded M1730 for $1999.
