Does anybody know what is up with Dell and UPS and their unusual tracking system? This is the only time I can ever remember with UPS that it didn't report a 'scheduled delivery date'. In fact, the tracking number shows VERY limited information (just the service type and departure scan). UPS always reports when the scheduled delivery date is, but with anything Dell ships it does not. The only thing I have to go by is Dell's estimated delivery date which is a 3 day range.

    Strange or explainable?

i noticed it was a little funny with mine, too. i think it's just slow to show the info cuz of the volume dell's doing. i'd guess they have a fairly close relationship, so it's not quite like getting tracking numbers from other places you order. i still got mine as fast as anything i order from newegg though.

I am just a tad irritated because now I cannot plan a specific date/time to be home to accept the package. Instead, I will probably have to drive 20 miles to the UPS distro center to pick it up.

At least with FedEx (economy ground mind you) you get the date and rough estimate of the time.

    Oh well.

Well the best thing that I can recommend is calling UPS and asking a date...usually they will give this information to you. Hope this helps.

Why not leave a note for ups to leave it at your doorstep?

UPS will not do that...except if you know the delivery guy, they will also not let it get delivered the neighbors house. The must have it signed by someone in your household...I believe this is per the contract with Dell and internal measures.

I have seen alot of people when I first got on these forums about that. :)

i read somewhere (in this forum?) that ups has a policy of not leaving dell packages unattended, like on a doorstep. makes sense, since there are sticky fingers out there...

Does anyone knows How is the Dell International Shipping ? I bought an i6400 on 04/01. I guess UPS is the one handling the shipment, DDU type.

I have a UPS Small Business Account and generally never have to sign for packages (all you need to do is sign a release form). However, their delivery confirmation service always requires a signature, release form or not. If your UPS guy/gal is leaving packages at your door worth $1000+, they could be in hot water if something happened to it. In fact, I had a Dell Color Laser printer get ruined because the UPS guy decided it would be a good idea to leave the package on my doorstep during a typical Nebraska thunderstorm (= totally trashed).

I had all the right information on the UPS site. When they said there going to deliver, they deliver it on that date.

And i agree, no matter what, someone at your house needs to sign for the computer. I would hate to have the UPS guy drop it off, and then a nice thunderstorm begins.

same here, the funny thing was when I got the tracking number, instead of saying "Scheduled Delivery Date" it says "Rescheduled Delivery Date". I didn't know what was the first scheduled date, so the rescheduled date is the actual scheduled date.. hehe. But overall, everythiing seemed same as far as UPS shipping goes.

Alright, this is getting insane...I finally got an 'update' on my shipment. It had a scheduled delivery date of today (4/11), but now UPS has rescheduled it for the 17th!? The thing that really has me peeved is that it orginally shipped from Salt Lake City on the 6th, it took 4 days to get to Reno, NV (heading the wrong direction mind you), now it is going to take a week to get from Reno to Omaha. Something is really wrong here...Seriously, Pony Express would be faster than whatever Dell/UPS is using here.

12 days to go 900 miles is not acceptable...I could ship something to the remote corners of Siberia in that amount of time. Maybe this is Dell's way of 'penalizing' people who use coupons and free shipping? Wouldn't surprise me...
