I thought the misaligned keyboard and body panel were the worst of my worries after getting the laptop back from "service", however I noticed last night that my ExpressCard slot cover is missing, and after my DVDRW drive FELL OUT, I noticed the screw that holds it in place is missing too... I think a three year old put it back together...

Call them...they'll fix it for free whether it's under warranty or not and give you a coupon for the trouble.

ouch, sorry to hear that, but that confirms funny things happen when you deal with dell tech service.
I really envy these lucky people that received an ok computer at the first try.

Crossing my fin gers I'm one of them. I also got the on-site warranty, so hopefully I won't have to mail my laptop off to Joe Bob Bumbles ever to get fixed.

never send in for dell. never! if u have at home warranty, use it! else, have them ship u the part and work with it ur self. sorry that u had such a bad experience. my experience was flawless cuz they either shipped me the parts or they came to my home and worked it. as the for expresscard cover, never ship that to them! the tech tried to run away with mine (not his fault really just forgot) and i called him just in time to meet up and get it back.

I agree, at home is top notch.

That a bummer ND, I had hoped the Round Rock(?) service was better than that. Certainly call!

The funny part is that if you have at home warranty - they won't let you send it in. Trust me I tried forever to get my laptop mailed in (i have a weird reasons) instead of the tech coming out, and they wouldn't ever let me. They said that I had to use at home service and that my warranty didn't cover mail ins.

    Go Figure.
