Its amazing i was talking to a friend of mine in the office and I told him that I ordered a 1705.

He said he ordered one as well and noticed, "RECIEVED IT IN 6 DAYS"...

Funny thing about it, he ordered it on Saturday in the mid-afternoon and recieved it Friday Night after work via UPS. Of course i called him a bol faced liar but he was actually telling the truth!!! May the gods smile down on me the same way  :D

Just when I resigned myself to waiting until mid-next week for the E1705 I ordered saturday (2/18), you go and get my hopes up again?!

Just seeing my poor laptop (T23, 7800, 60gb, wxga) sitting there in boxing for 2 days now I was starting to think they boated them over from Malaysia.

While my heart starts to flutter again in anticipation let me say hello and thanks for all the great info here on the forums. This is my first 'new' notebook and I found this place already to be a great resource!

Same here. I ordered it Friday the 17th and it's on the delivery truck as we speak. Only problem is we have people coming over to look at our house at around the time UPS delivers. DOH :(

I wish I could be so lucky....
I am still in boxing and the rep has informed me that it is in the initial boxing phase.

I may not get it until March 1 :(

Mine was in boxing phase from Saturday night until yesterday afternoon when they finally labeled it as shipped. Then last night around 9PM I noticed the tracking number on it. Dell seems slow to update their website, so when the site says it's "shipped" it probably means it was shipped the day before.

    mawgaman,

Boxing is the stage where the laptops are shipped from Malayasia to the US and then boxed here. This process takes about 3 days.

Since your order should have been out of boxing yesterday you should get the tracking number tonight. If you have standard 3-day shipping you should receive it by tomorrow or Monday.

    Hope this helps.

I hope that is the case. Thanks for the response as well.

But my question is why do I currently have an estimated delivery date of March 16??

I know I am impatient etc.... but jeez that is almost a month since the day I ordered it.

Well Dell is known for giving a date way out it there are parts on back-order.

If it is was mistaken for the back order you will get it alot sooner than that. Dell tends to put weird dates on their estimates and then deliver it way before. Alot of people think that is great.

Personally, I would rather see the actual. :)

You said it was in the boxing stage right? If it is in boxing you will get it way before then. If you have concerns I would either Dell chat (first option)...or call them (second option).

Yeah, just tell me the actual... In this case no information would have made me feel much better LOL

I may give them a phone call actually.
Dell Chat was alot of canned responses... I might just wait as well.
After all if I call, they can't tell me anything besides what the actual sites says... or am I wrong?

All depends on how good of an associate you get. Mine told me info that wasn't on the site yet. The site they said is updated once a day. So they might just have some extra info for you. :)
