First of all, a picture of my current Disk Management screen, for reference:
What I want to do is delete my Dell Restore partition, and maybe re-install Windows XP.
I tried using Dell's Restore Partition Removal Utility (C:\Dell\Utilities\DSR\DSRIRRemv2.exe), but I got this error:
Why did I get that? What should I do? Can I delete that partition with Partition Magic? And how can I get the space that was freed up into the Windows partition?
Anyway, I'm thinking of also installing a fresh copy of Windows XP to get rid of all the junk programs it came with. If I install from the XP CD that the computer came with, will I get less junk or not? Will it mess with my other partitions or can I choose to overwrite my current copy of Windows in the same partition? Should I delete the Dell Restore partition before or after installing Windows?

I don't think you can merge the 47 mb to the Media directone , cause the C drive is on the way. Partition Magic can't do it. You can try to merge the 3.6GB with Media Direct.

Okay, I deleted the Dell Restore partition and it now shows up as Unallocated, but I can't merge it with my Windows partition in Partition Magic. I don't know what the problem is, but here is a screenshot.
I also have no idea why the Media Direct partition has two sections or something (the third and fourth partitions from the top). I mean, I should only have four partitions, but for some reason Media Direct is showing up as two. According to the Partition Magic help, I have to move the unallocated space next to my Windows partition in order to combine them, but the only partition that I seem to be able to move is Dell Utility. -

Also try this. I use it all the time, its free and never had problems using it on 3 comps running XP and flavors of Linux. I "believe"It has a "move" option.
