Well the Dell... Delays are terrible... I mean crazy!! :p Actually what's worse is the reps on the phone selling you systems saying 2 weeks and then you checking online and it being 6 weeks... Oh well...

I ordered a XPS M1330, 2.2Ghz, 2 Gb ram, 128 MB GeForce 8400Go, 160Gb HDD 7200 RPM, FingerPrint, Red Matte Casing, Wireless N Card, LED Display... And tomorrow I'll cancel it cause I now ordered:

    Apple Macbook Pro /w:
    2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
    120GB Serial ATA Drive@5400rpm
    SuperDrive 8x
    15" Glossy Widescreen Display
128 MB Geforce 8600 Video Card

Arrival date... Earlier.. All good. Figured I'd upgrade my current XPS with an XPS... Oh well! Just thought I'd rant, and hopefully at the end of the day I'm still "okay"

Damn, you went with a 13 inch portable to something a little more bulky in the 15" Apple. Oh well, I guess patience overrides portability.

I'm starting not to believe these posts of people going to the macbook pro. there are so many of them and they are so illogical? go from a 4lb 13in to a 6lb 15 in? what?

I agree. Maybe they're just trying to get Dell Corp to read these forums and have them ship out as quickly as they can! Oh no wait--Dell is already doing that and has been doing that the past 15 years. I just find it sad that people can't wait a few weeks to get an awesome laptop. Rather they tend to complain and request for free stuff. This is life guys!! Welcome to the real world!!!!!

An Inspiron 1520 configured the same as a MacBook Pro like the one described here leaves a price difference of about 1,200 to 1,300. I'd rather wait a couple of weeks and save that money.

    Actually:

Macbook Pro is 5.4 lbs (15")
    Dell 1520 6.40 lbs (15")
XPS M1330 4.5 lbs if you get 9 Cell (which most opt for)

And about portability there specs are nearly identical... Haven't you seen a comparison of them side by side? The difference isn't great at all.. I prefer Mac OS X anyways. I have a Macbook.. I just wanted another gaming machine.

    Macbook Pro:
    Width: 35.7 cm
    Height: 2.59 cm
    Depth: 24.3 cm

    XPS M1330:
    Width: 31.8cm
    Height: 2.21cm – 3.38cm
    Depth: 23.8cm

Anyway as for the person that said people are trying to get better deals cause of lateness?? What's that to do with my topic, I've never tryed to squeeze bargains out of dell. I see there date and I don't like it and I require a machine sooner. When you have Dell reps telling you when placing an order a certain time-frame and then you actually check it after order is placed and it's 3x longer it can get frustrating.

Oh just read latest post on pricing... Okay that's way off. First thing the Mac ones have a lot of integrated features that don't require options where-as with dell they are options. So anyway I did do a price up comparison and there is a price difference but it's 150$ and... well considering with the macbook pro I get an Ipod 4 gb nano with it. which retails 229.99 CDN ... the macbook pro actually costs me 150$ less.

So anyway that's why I choose it and the macbook pro is more compact then the 1520. Regardless I will agree I just liked the design of the XPS M1330 and I do like the macbook's design although not as much but for my current demands I require it slightly earlier.. So that's why the switch no dell hating really.

If shipping late was all of the problem then it would be ok. First, they complete didn't update their order status page, so it still displaying an EDD of 8/16. Also, for some people Dell PROMISED that it would deliver on or before that date. For example, I might want to leave for vacation on the 20th...

And I think it's sad that we are begging Dell, simply because Dell should've taken the initiative and offered us stuff.
