I have the blueray burner installed with my Dell 1530. What program do you use too play Blueray disks? Can't seem to find anything installed that will let it play?

    Thanks

It seems that PowerDVD did not come with the laptop. It is not installed anywhere and I don't see it on the list of programs that are installed.

    I agree!

Anyway, try asking Dell if they're shipping the software to properly play Blu-ray and maybe you can ask them to include it for free, in case it's really not included. Merry Christmas! :p

I did call Dell and they are shipped the PowerDVD. They also said I can download it from Cyberlink which I did but it will not play the Blueray disk. Are you saying the Dell 1530 with a DVD burner does not include any software to play Blueray disks? That's around a $2,400 mistake for them.

I will give more details after I get everything working. One thing I know for sure is that having a Sony Vaio with the XBright Highcolor screen next to this one makes dells lcd look bad.

KLM, The 1530 has the option for either a Dual Layer DVD or a Blue-ray drive. If you purchased the with the DVD drive then it will not play Blue-ray disks no matter what software you use. If it was configured with the Blue-ray disk, on the other hand, all that should be needed is the Cyberlink software for playing a Blue-ray disk, or the Roxio or Sonic writing software to create one.

If you look at the order details for your computer it should list which specific drive type the system was built with. If you can provide me with the case number for your call into tech support I can double check what is listed on the order details.

If if I understand all of this is: If you have a BD drive you get PowerDVD with it. If you just have the DVD drive then you don't?

Actually, you should get the Cyberlink PowerDVD program, and reinstallation CDs, for either drive type with the computer. The difference is whether or not the hardware for playing a Blue-ray disk is in the system or not. If you don't have a Blue-ray drive, it doesn't really matter whether PowerDVD will read Blue-ray or not ... the drive doesn't.

Thanks everyone, It did not ship with the software or disk. Dell did ship the disk out to get it installed. I have since shipped my Dell back since I had problems with the disk drive ejecting. I have since decided on the Sony Vaio FZ-290 with Blueray burner at 2.4Gh. I have to say that Dell was very nice and helped me with the return of my Dell.

If I had to complain about one thing with the dell it would be the LCD display screen. After seeing the Sony it was dull.
