Okay, I got my Studio 17 two days ago, and I REALLY like it, however the slot-load drive has scratched my discs and the WLED Samsung screen has a scratch on it. Other than that, it's fine.

I got this during the 30% off sale on Dells website, and I got a fully loaded laptop for just under $1,340 with all the extras like the bluetooth headset and travel remote.

I now have to call Dell and get it returned, BUT if I ask for a replacement, am I getting a refurbished computer and how likely, or a brand spankin' new computer?

Otherwise, I will have to shell out over $1,500 on a new system without the extras (unless ANYONE knows of a code to lower the price). I am not happy, and litteraly, calling Dell to ask for a replacement makes me worried that it wont be brand new anyways.

    What do you say?

P.S. Regarding my setup for those who were interested, I seemed to get really good hardware, the Samsung WLED screen is just great, and I got the slot-load drive that is quiet, not the loud ones, and my keyboard doesn't flex.

Return it and buy again to get new, otherwise call and get the parts fixed.

Dell is like that, really!? If you buy a new system, just get it and it is defective, they replace it with used parts instead of send a brand new replacement unit? They don't care?

Theres this lovely agreement that you said you agreed to before you purchased the computer that you said you agreed that any replacement parts could be either new or refurbished. If you failed to read this yet state you agree to the terms then it is your own fault.

If your not happy, return it and purchase a new one again. You will not get it at your old price. So if you dont want to pay more etc if they are more now then get replacement parts or take your business to another company.

I returned my XPS in 2 days and they just replaced it with a brand new one. My first one, like yours, was defective also.

Mine has a issue with a fan rattling every once in a while, only had it a week and they offered to replace the whole laptop. I told them just get me a new fan that is fine. I already loaded up my laptop and didn't want to go through that again.
