Awesome! The X1300 128Mb's is a $99 upgrade and the X1400 256MB's with hyper memory is a $179 upgrade! That seems like quite a lot of $ for those card upgrades... but I guess dell has to make money some way. ;)

Ok here is the specs and the price you can get it for.

    - Core Duo 1.66ghz
    - 512DDR2
    - ATI X1400 with 256Mb's hypermemory
    - 40GB's
    - DVD Burner
    - Windows XP Media Center

The price comes to $1,128. Then when the $300 off $999+ coupon is used (RH0TFJGWX9JHCM) the price comes to $828. To get the price even lower go on ebay and buy a $35 off $300+ coupon code for about $1. Bringing the price down to $793. Then simply sign up for a fatwallet.com account and a dell preferred account. This will save you an additional 5% off your entire order. Your final price for your new gamming rig is $753! $750 for laptop that can game. Thanks to dell for another crazy price on a laptop :)

    Hello,

First time poster. This is the model I have been waiting for. But I have a few questions: I plan on getting the ATI X1400 card.

I am going to be using this as a 2nd computer to play games on (Wow, Warcraft 3, Star Wars - KOTOR, HL2) when I can't get to my desktop (which might be often). I will also edit photos and family video and internet surfing.

Should I spend the extra money on the T2500 over the T2400 chip or to double my Ram to 2Gb from 1Gb? Did not want to spen the extra $$ on both. What would you choose, Why?

I am also not sure of what screen to get. I keep hearing that games (and things in general) look better when played at the screen res in this case I would get 15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA Display with TrueLife (1280 x 800 ). Or should I get 15.4 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with TrueLife (1680 x 1050 ). I am guessing that the X1400 will not play many games that high so that means I will have to lower the res. So should I save the extra $$$

    Thanks,
    Peter

I would stay with the T2400. The RAM upgrade is going to be alot better going aftermarket. It is alot cheaper...go with the minimum and then upgrade like off newegg.com.

Screen wise...1680x1050 is nice, but I have the 1440x900 resolution screen and my 6800Go has some tough times doing that res. You can always get the 1680x1050 screen and just adjust the resolution down to whatever you want it to be, there isn't that much distortion unless you play 4:3 aspect ratio. If you are looking to save money go for the smaller screen, otherwise indulge yourself and just lower the resolution. :)

    Welcome to NBR!!!

I hate to burst everyones bubble..

but the x1300 and x1400 are NOT dedicated video

they are SHARED video as you can read this right on Dell's website...

now the big question...anyone find any reviews on these cards to see how they handle newer games? and at what FPS???

    JonC,

They can be considered dedicated because they do have 128MB of dedicated memory and the rest is shared.

I have been unable to find benchy or FPS's yet.

Well I would rather take a hyper-memory (Shared memory) card over a completely dedicated 128MB card.

If I have an X700 128MB and share it up to I think max is 384MB it will run alot better than a 128MB completely dedicated, so it isn't a bad idea if you need to save money and have alot of system memory...usually over 1 GB. :)
