Dedicated XPS M1210 Website

Hey I decided to make a dedicated website to the m1210 since i liked it so much and found it a bit hard to look for mods, guides, etc specifically for the m1210 on here. So I was wondering, anyone in on the bandwagon? and any comments?

Good idea m8. I've always been an m1210 fan (and secretly wishing for the m1710) and I suppose a website dedicated to that would help, especially since there are so few videos of people playing games on those. I don't have the m1210 anymore, since I opted for a MBP, though you should go for it, good luck.

 

EXACTLY! I just received mine yesterday and I already love it. And since it's fairly new and i haven't loaded anything on it yet (except Firefox) I will install some games (I'm not that big of a hardcore gamer) and will get demos for the ones i don't have.

My deadline is to get the site up by Friday and Videos up by Monday next week, leaving me the whole weekend to do REAL battery tests and other time consuming things.

I'll get 5-15min videos of F.E.A.R, Doom 3, Battlefield 2142, and Battlefield 2.
And will stick up a page/email for people to request tests and videos (Just remembered, ill also take a lot of videos using the webcam).

 

back when I had my 700m I used to frequent this site:

They added the m1210 and the 710m, but they don't get much m1210 posts/threads. Maybe we can migrate there?!

 

It's kind of a niche market, but if you have a big enough user base I suppose it could work.

 

I'd certainly look into it if there was a site like that, but I don't think there are enough users that you can get the attention to make a full fledged successful m1210 dedicated website.

 

hmm.. yes that's what i was thinking about too so I'm starting to expand to the whole line of XPS notebooks (maybe even the desktops idk)

 

sure can! One thing though.. has anyone noticed that most Korean websites take really long to load up? They always have all those fancy graphics and stuff so thats exactly the path I'm heading on right now so might have bad load times. I will try keep it a bit simpler then the Korean ones but yea...

i think its a fine idea and id go, but its lame to discuss it on a forum that would ultimately compete for the same audience.

yea niether. i really want to mod mine but can't think of how or what to do with it.

 

I know we only have the blue lights on the front, but I'd lvoe to see a controller in the OS for it like on the 1710. Make it dance with music or something, you know? f corse, I have NO programming skill, so it's not like I can do anything about it...

I suggest you post here ( http://www.notebookforums.com/forum237.html) as well. While not dedicated to the M1210, it's more focused than this forum and gets a lot of M1210 traffic.

It is nice to have a dedicated site for XPS M1210, But I have a feeling that it will die off too quickly. Personally I think you can get more help from a larger community like this. XPS series is generally aimed towards the enthusiastic market meaning that XPS owners won’t stick to a particular model for too long, this also could be a problem for a such forum.

So I would say probably not.

I would disagree with PhoenixFx, to an extent, in that the M1210 is pretty much unique for its size and specs, and so even enthusiasts will not be able to find such a portable and powerful computer. I don't know of any notebooks like it penned for the future either.

Go make that website - it'll encourage more people to buy it, so it'll be less of a niche market and help us all with helpful tips and advice on how to get the most out of the machine!

I have a feeling the starter of this thread has given up on it though.

yes^ i realized there isn't a BIG scope for the site so gave up on it and my friend started another site while I quit on the m1210 site so i decided to just help him out a little- it's a DDL forum so kind of controversial but if people still want the link ill post it up

back to the m1210 site idea... I think in terms of having a site that would show some basic mods etc with nice pictures and details would be cool. Forum if not used often would be quite a waste and with good information already located in the forums of notebookreview it would be more redundant then anything. I think many times sites that try to do much all at one time end up not doing anything at all in the end.
