Hi, I am the proud owner of a new dell laptop (Inspiron 6400) which I bought last week with a one year warranty. Having heard about all the problems that show up with laptops a year or two down the road, I thought it would be wise to buy an extended warranty for my laptop. I checked the dell website today just to discover that it costs about $150 for a 2 year extended warranty which is way beyond my budget and also is too much considering the price I paid for the laptop.

Does anyone know of any coupons or offers that could possibly help reduce the price? Do you guys think that if I wait a little longer the cost of buying a warranty would decrease? Does anyone know if I can get a discount if I am a university student? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

One more question... Has anyone bought Inspiron I6400 on the basic warranty and upgraded it later? If you did, how much did it cost to upgrade and what type of warranty did you get? CC / limited?
