Ok so I bought an e1505 about two years ago and now the battery is dead. I was under the impression that the you did not need the battery if you used an ac adapter. Do I have to buy a new battery to get my Inspiron to function?

Since my e1505 is dead I decided to get a Studio which was delayed of course lol. But it was finally shipped and I should receive it by next week. Can the battery from the studio power the Inspiron?

I only ask because I have files on the Inspiron that I need on my new computer.

You don't need a battery in a laptop if it's plugged into AC for it to work. Take the battery out if it's having problems booting. If it still won't boot, you have other problems which could be a wide range of things.

The Studio battery will not work with the Inspiron.

So how can I figure out what is causing the problem?

Well, does your power brick work first off? Does it get a light on the brick itself? Does the system get a light on it when you plug in the power brick? You could have a bad powerjack. You could have a bad motherboard, bad video adapter, could be a lot of things.

First thing is to make sure the laptop has power going in to it.

Don't fret though, worst comes worst you can take the drive out of the laptop, put it in an external enclosure, and get your valuable data off.

If you have another power brick that's about the best way to rule that out.

I'm so F****** stupid... I just jiggled my adapter a lil and it turned right on lol...

I can't believe I was not on my comp for 2.5 to 3 weeks cause I thought it "died" lol

I'm greatful because I now have access to the internet in my room... but I notice this comp is running a lil slow so I cannot wait for my new studio :)
