    Data backup for XP downgrade

    I'm thinking of backing up my data on D: partition before I format C: and install XP on it. But of course, I'll have to change my HD mode to ATA. Will that cause data loss on D: as well?

    thanks man.. I am so badly looking to move away from Vista, that I'm willing to switch to XP until my Windows 7 upgrade package arrives... sigh

    AND ITS FINALLY DONE! After thousands of second-thoughts, I am on Windows XP and have no regrets! Its working really well and Dell website had all the drivers! The media buttons work and all too.

    Thank you everyone for your help: Fragile, Mastershroom, CommanderWolf and everyone else.

    The only thing that suprised me was its only reading 2.96GB RAM when I have 4GB. I thought it would read 3.5GB or something.. No?!
