I have a Dell Inspiron 1150.
I can no longer play dvd's on it. It says I am missing a decoder.
I don't know what happend to the decoder I had.
Does anyone know what it was called so I can search for it?
Would it be on any of the softward that came with my purchase?
Quite frustrating.
Thank you.

Hello and welcome.
Hm, did you do something lately? Like reformatiing? or installing new softwares?

You just need to install a dvd player software such as Cyberlink Power DVD or Intervideo WinDVD. That should fix your problem.

You can download a full version of PowerDVD 5.7 from Dell.com. This will fix the decoder issue.

You can circumvent the need for a decoder by using VLC media player -

It's a really nifty little app that plays almost every video format, including FLV (from Youtube, google video etc..). To play your DVD, pop the DVD in and find the mpeg files on the disc. -
I use DiVX Player. I haven't had very good luck with FLV Player.
