I have a Latitude D620, and recently I have lost the ability to playback DVD's with good sound. I have done the following...

    Updated Sound Drivers
    Tried system restore
    Uninstalled and reinstalled PowerDVD
    Downloaded and Installed winDVD
Downloaded and Installed VLC Media Player
Set all audio acceleration to NONE

When I pause the DVD, to try adjusting settings, I have noticed that when it stops spinning, and I press play... The sound is great until the laptop starts to spin the DVD again, then there is a small glitch on the screen and the movie replays with the crappy sound.

Please post ideas, so I don't have to contact DHell Support Wannabe Team.

    Thanks for the help!

    DKL101,

I had the same annoying problem with my Vostro 1500. Ended up replacing the DVD-RW drive. Easy to test, rip DVD to your HDD and see if you get the same problem playing the movie off HDD. You may also notice that the rip speed is slow.
