In Linux and in the BIOS, the drive works fine but under Windows it does not come up under My Computer. In Device Manager, it shows up with an exclamation mark on yellow.

The weird thing is that there is no driver for it on the Dell website. It is a Sony DVD+-RW DW-Q58A but I have been googling around for it and cannot find a driver for it.

Let Windows search for a driver on the net. That might help.

If not, call Dell and get the resource CD for your notebook. It should have the driver.

I just talked to Dell and after too long troubleshooting she had me delete two registry entries: Upper Limits and Lower Limits under some folder. Now, it works
