    i need help.
every time i try to burn a dvd or play a dvd my laptop slows down, the cursor does not move on the screen smoothly all clicks are delayed for a few secs and programs run real slow.
is there some setting that is wrong on the dvd properties? only happens when i try to read or write a dvd.

on a dual core processor cant one watch a video while burning some documents on a dvd?

I think the IDE interface has dropped into PIO mode. Windows can do this if it has reading problems. PIO means all the memory access is through the CPU, so it has no time to anything else.

See the workaround in the link above. Basically, you uninstall the secondary IDE channel (assuming that is where the ODD is connected) and let Windows redetect it. This will restore the interface to UDMA-2.

Looks like driver issues. If you have some time this weekend, please backup your data and reinstall the OS and drivers.
