Theres a problem with my dvd burner on my e1505

Im using a Samsung Pleomax DVD+R 8X disc in my Sony Internal DVD burner on the E1505, and Nero can only burn it at 4X! Dells site said I have an 8x dvd burner when i ordered it, and the disc itself is designed to go at 8x speed, so then why cant nero burn it at that speed?

can you download this application and run it with an empty disc in the drive (no need for install)

then take a snapshot of the "disc info" with the floppy icon in the corner and post it

All it does is just detect the disc and give the media code for it. That is what I am interested in. Also a full model number for your burner, which that software will provide will help in figuring out what the problem is

did you check if you have the latest firmware? I believe the latest is UYS3

also did you try any other types of discs with it? It could just be a matter of this disc media code and your burner

that software doesn't burn the dvd or anything like that. it just reads the media code from it. the dvd remains usable. in fact if you have another disc that you had already burned from that same batch you can also use it with CD SPEED to determine the media code.

Firmware found here: http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html#DW-Q58A (the download file contains the original firmware and a patched one, that is rpc1)

That's good to hear. Glad I could help :)

In general it is best to find the media code that works best for your player and creates the least possible coasters and stick with it. Some times discs that produce good burns with one burner might either create problems on another or not even produce good quality burns
