Granted, its a cheap upgrade so I'll probalby get it anyways, but does the Burner in the E1405 support bitsetting? I have a lot of DVD+Rs which I usually set to DVD-ROM booktype...if not, is there a hacked firmware for it?
Thanks

I don't think it is a big deal either way unless you have an old DVD player.
-
Well, its for that and backup Xbox games, but it doesn't really matter now anyways.
Anyways, would this be a decent deal?
E1405
Core2Duo 2Ghz, 4 Mb Cache
Media Center
WXGA+ w/ Truelife
1 Gig ram
120 gig hdd
Intel 3945 Wireless (Does it make any difference over Dell's card?)
both 6 and 9 cell batteries
1 year warrentee
Comes out to $1200 after Taxes. -
Not really up on my Xbox backups. Perhaps you want to check Xbox-Scene. The card won't make a huge difference. Seems like an alright deal. I personally like HP's budget notebooks better.
-
Eh, I've read up on Xbox backups - I can use my NEC burner on my Desktop in that case; my Samsung drive in my Xbox just doesn't like DVD+Rs.
I was mostly going for this over HP's because of...the battery life.
And shoul I get 1 gig of RAM or get 512 and wait for a deal on 2 gigs? -
It is usually cheaper to upgrade after.
-
One last question - I basically only really need this for College, in which I have another year. Would it be a better idea to wait for the Santa Rosa platform (It would probably mean I'd actually be able to play games compared to the E1405) and possibly better battery life. Do you guys think it'd make that much of a difference?
-
There is always something better coming. I would say if you need then buy.
-
I say just buy it now -
yeah just buy it now
-
You can wait forever, I waited for Core 2 Duo since it only set me back a week, but waiting for three months.. then you might as well wait for a year.. and then 2.. and yeah, you get the idea
-
Thats a mean way to put it
Maybe...try and wait for a $750 off $2000 coupon if they ever show up again...or wait for something better than jsut 20% off at least.
Hooray for being cheap
