So i saw the post and checked the site and the news is true, core 2 duo is live on the dell site, and better yet its only only $150 more then the dv8000t i configured(for the money you get a better vid card and c2d!) One thing to note is that the 20% coupon still applies to the e1705 with core 2 duo, and is expiring 8/31. Im already gonna be behind schedule so im thinking depite what offers they MAY release soon, i might just jump on board with the 20% coupon.
Tell me what you guys think of my config:
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7200 (4MB Cache/2.00GHz/667MHz FSB)
Genuine Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
17 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife™
1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
    256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS
    80GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 Internal Wireless and Bluetooth
2Yr Ltd Warranty, 2Yr At-Home Service, and 2Yr HW Warranty Support
    TOTAL:$1,544.80

Im looking at $1652 after tax, should i wait for a better deal, or is this too new to expect a price drop?

If your gonna spend all that money, and seems like you are going to game, shouldn't you get a 7200rpm HDD ? Seems like a pretty good deal.

Its not just for gaming, It will make loading big programs faster. Also if you are not a hardcore gamer why do you need a 7900 GS :)?

There's only a minor difference between core duo and core 2 duo. However there is a big difference between the 7600 and 7900. Your dell config is a bit more "future-proof" since it has a better graphics card and a 64 bit processor. Either way, I'd wait for the prices on both the core duo and core 2 duo drop.

I totally agree. I have a 7200RPM HD in my M1710 and I wouldn't want to go back to anything slower. The extra cost is well worth the added performance.
