So I've heard on numerous sites that Dell offers a discount to buyers who purchase using a Dell Preferred Account? I bought an XPS m1530 with DPA and the discount didn't show up. Now, with the new 5% off coupon and this possible DPA discount (possibly...?) I'm thinking of cancelling my order and "starting over".

What do you guys think? And does this DPA discount exist for an XPS m1530 bought through EPP?

EDIT: I foung out how to get the DPA discount, but now I need to know how to cancel my order... I only placed it like the night before last, so it isn't yet showing up in "My Account" (for some reason, the rep couldn't explain why yesterday when I asked...). So how do I cancel my order so I can get this better deal?

Call dELL and cancel it via the phone. Its a pain because I got transferred like 22 times but eventually it gets the job done.

Yeah. I eventually found a way to try to cancel it online but it wasn't working right, meh, so I guess I'll call them tomorrow. Thanks.

Cancel your order through CUSTOMER CARE. Remember that. If Customer Care tries to transfer you to technical support, tell them that you know they are the ones, or even say that tech support transferred them over to you.

My own personal experience with my M1530, calling them for a replacement or order cancellation resulted in calling up Dell reaching their Customer Care, they transferred me to Tech Support, then to XPS Support, then back to Customer Care, who had wanted to transfer me to Tech Support.

I think they purposely make it more difficult just to hope that mindless consumers will decide to keep their order and avoid the hassle. lol.

Is Customer Care different than Customer Service? Not trying to be sarcastic, just wondering.

Sorry for the double post, but.... now they're phone service is online. I wonder if I could convince a "sales rep" (the only form of live communication left, for this time, it seems) to do this for me?

I canceled my order today and it was actually pretty easy. First called up to make my new order, she transferred me to another line where I made my cancellation. Then called up dpa to have my dpa account reset or something like that so that I could make another purchase right away. Then called up again and they had my system all ready to purchase.

They didnt call it that, but thats basically what it was. After you cancel a dpa order, it takes some time for that money to be added back to your available credit. My total credit is $3000 and I used $1600 on my first order. So after the cancellation, they said it would be quicker if I called up and had someone do this little resetting thing that makes it so that I could use all $3000 again. I hope this is understandable.

I don't think the discount is worth it. Isn't it only 2%?

When I bought my M1730, it was 4%. That was on top of the 12% EPP discount as well as my "direct price negotiation" (name your price) with Dell. If you play your cards right, you can stack lots of these discounts and get a good deal off of your order.

An example I investigated when I wasl pricing out my system was this:

    12% EPP
    5%-7% for Complete Care
    4% for DPA

Sometimes there are other percentages off that you can add on to that.

Here are the discounts I got when I made my order yesterday.

    12% epp
    5% epp coupont
    6% AAA
    4% dpa
Along with some smaller discounts like 30% off the upgrade to a 9cell battery.

    apply for a DPA account

whne checking out, the first page of payment choice, choose something other than DPA(credit card, .....)

on the second page, choose DPA. then the discount would automatically apply

How did you manage to apply the 6% AAA on an EPP order? It's not letting me.
