I was all excited as I cloned my new 160GB Seagate laptop hard drive for my E1505 (Inspiron 6400) only to find out that it has a different set of pins (??) in the back of the hard drive.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? Is there a way to change them out w/ the old drive or any kind of adapter out there? Am I SOL?

I don't think so. You probably bought a ATA hard drive instead of a SATA one that your laptop uses.

You can use a SATA to 3.5'' and 3.5'' to 2.5 inch adaptor- but the hard disk would jut out of the laptop and it would be fragile...

You probably did not buy the right one?

Most laptops use 2.5" SATA hard drives.

    st9160821a-rk... i think that's what it is.

btw, i'll need a new 2.5 hd enclosure for the new SATA HDD but the ones i see on ebay all say they only support up to 120GB... i wanted to purchase another 160GB HDD.

anyone know of an enclosure that supports 160GB?
