Hi all,
On my new Inspiron 6000D notebook I have a NEC 6650A CD\DVD drive. It was advertised as DL capable, but I noticed when I look at the information provided by Nero (drive info tool) it says that the drive cannot read or write to DVD-R DL discs, only to DVD+R DL discs.
Is this really the case, or is Nero reporting the wrong information?
Thanks.

according to the specs sheet, it should support both +/- R (DL). I know there is other software that will test your dvd-drive, but i can't find the websites. You might try to find a 3rd party software and test it.

Try using another burning software if you have one.
I think +R DL came out first and is more available than the -designation.
If your worried about + DL working on DVD players you shouldnt have to worry, all DVD players currently produced play both -+.
If you have one of the real early first DVD players that is where you need to worry about the + Media.
Just get the +R DL and you should be all good.
I burned a +R DL a few days ago using my 9300 and all was good. -
another thing with Nero's infotool, is that you can check/uncheck the types. It might have accidentally gotten unchecked or something. I noticed that happened the first time I ran the info on my drive -- i can't remember which one, but one of them was unchecked and should have been checked.
DL DVD capability?
