Please Dell, stop using DHL. I have never had a good experience with DHL, I have had either terrible or nothing special. I never had it move faster than expected. However, with UPS I have had a few mistakes but many unbelievably fast shipments. My laptop was 3 hours away since late last night. It sat all day yesterday and made no progress. Now it will not be here until Monday. Which means it is sitting on a truck in transit( according to DHL) for 3 days. I asked if I could go pick it up and she said yes but it won't even get to my area until monday. So god only knows where it goes from Orlando to **** ft. myers but if it isn't going to even get to the plant this weekend I have a feeling I will be sending it back for warranty issues after 6 days of getting bumped around on the road and tossed around by personnel and drivers.

My one issue with Dell on this is I had free 2 days shipping when I originally orderd this weeks ago. they canceled my order with no warning because they said our I.D. couldn't be verified, I guess we are the first people in the world to ever buy a new home and move. Now the 2 day shipping isn't an option for free and it was going to raise the price too much and they wouldn't give it to me for free. I had already had to cancel this current order and replace it once because the rep configured it wrong. Even then if he had configured right the first time I would have it today. oh well, I am on hold now and hopefully they will conference me in with DHL and get this to my local facility so I can pick it up. Unbelievable, 3 days to travel a distance that should be 3 hours

I feel your DHL pain. In Sept I ordered a new Dell which they shipped via DHL. DHL lost it, I never got it. DHL admits they lost it. Dell makes me wait FOREVER before they will order a new one. I've ordered the new one but am still waiting. It was supposed to be shipped on the 28th but it wasn't and no one will tell me everything. I just keep getting told to call back in 48 hours. Grrr. And I bet they ship the next one via DHL even though I requested something different.

I read a rumor...granted, a rumor, that DHL will no longer be the shipping provider for Dell come...tomorrow, Nov. 1. Now, we'll see if that's the truth or not. :)

I wish they would use DHL here, but Europe is UPS territory for Dell. DHL does greatly share resources with Deutsche Post here in Germany, which owns DHL since 2002. Most German online stores ship with DHL, and they are really fast and reliable. My mum was even surprised that Dell doesn't use them!

The biggest difference: If you're not at home when the package is delivered, they drop it at the next postal agency - mine is in my hometown, less than a kilometre away. If the same thing happens with UPS-delivered packages, it's at least 45 minutes by car to their depot in Frankfurt.

I've had bad luck with UPS and DHL. I had to go to the DHL terminal to pick up one laptop because they didn't understand the concept of scheduled delivery hours. If I am not available until after a certain time ... I will not be available until after that time.

For me...DHL has been ok...but UPS...has been a problem in the area I live. At least, when DHL was delivering my 1530, and I wasnt home..they didn't just *leave* it. UPS has dones this several times.

I only had one situation with DHL...but it got straightened out. I wasn't a happy person, but in the end..things worked out for my benefit.

I have had only positive experiences with DHL so far. DHL in India is definitely the best courier service

Nice.. :D..You know, when it comes down to it..I think it depends on the local DHL in the area you live, and the person on the Delivery truck. ;)

If you can, order through the Small Business department they use FedEx and treat you a lot better. That being said I've never had any issues with DHL. Their service should change considerably though soon because they are outsourcing their air hub to UPS to save money.

I have had a good experience with DHL so far. The last time I checked, when I received my m1330, I got it in a timely and good manner way from a friendly dude and the best part is that he waved good-bye on his way back to the yellow truck. Either its part of his job or not, he delivery the goods with a smile. :)

DHL sold their airplanes, and entire air cargo business to UPS according to the wsj - laid off their pilots etc... Said in part due to fuel costs.

Problem in my area is manpower -- items for 2nd day air arrive at DHL and more often that not sit there for a day or two before they can get a driver to take it. Now when I see the package has arrived at DHL I just call and tell them to hold it. Picked up my mini's on Friday and was told that they just did not have enough staff to deliver all of the packages. In any event I have as I'm sure everyone who has shipped for a large company has had problems with every shipping company out there.... IMO DHL has been no better or worse than others. Sure Fed-ex overnight is usually very good and that's primarily what we use.

I don't think you guys need to worry about DHL much longer.

DHL-USA is halting operations by the 1st of the year.

That means that DHL will not domestically ship packages anymore, they will only focus on international shipping.

That means Dell will HAVE to pick another carrier, which we will probably see as UPS or Fedex.

My concern with that however, is they may not be able to set up such a deal as they did with DHL and we may see shipping charges return.

Where is your source for that? They are just not using ABX Air for their air operations and out sourcing it to UPS.

My laptop from Dell (US order) shipped via FedEx yesterday. Not sure if this means they're not using DHL anymore, though.

Did you order any expedited service. Also where did you order come from? The ones from Nashville have been DHL for me. However, if I order through Small Biz then they come from Austin via FedEx.

Nope, nothing special. The free 3-5 day delivery, and it's coming from Nashville.

ETA: It says the delivery date is Saturday too, btw. So I either got a free upgrade on shipping, or Dell had decided to stop screwing around, lol.

FedEx always delivers on Saturday, it is the only one of the top three that includes it in their regular service. It looks like things have changed as far as their shipping goes. Maybe with UPS taking over DHLs hub operations the prices were less competitive.
