Ok guys, I now have a 2/6 expected delivery date. Based on past Dell orders, it might even come on 2/5. Either way, I will not be there to sign for the package on any day of this week due to my full time job.
What are my options? I really need this notebook by the weekend and I don't want to miss the opportunity. Can I set up a time for the package to be delivered? Because I can take my lunch break and do that if it's possible.
Can I pick it up at a DHL location? I heard somebody say that they have to at least attempt delivery once before somebody can do that, but I know for a fact that I won't be there for the first delivery attempt. If not, can I get my neighbor approved to sign for the package? Anybody have experience with this? Thanks!

After that one attempt, you will have a piece of paper which contains a tracking number, as well as where you can pick it up. You can also reroute it to your work address, or to your neighbour. However, you will need to have 1 delivery attempt before that's possible.

It depends. I haven't had a DHL shipment in a long time, but it should definately tell you on the sticker. I know Canada Post & Purolator have an actual space which tells you when it's available for pickup. DHL, I'm not so sure of. If there's no space, just call the number and they'll tell you.

I have a similar problem. My laptop has an ESD of 2/6, but nobody will be home. There will, however be someone to sign for it on 2/5 and 2/7. I can only hope that my laptop will come a day early or a day late. I have high hopes, though, as according to DHL my laptop left Ohio at 3 today, and since I believe they call you a day in advance to let you know they're bringing a package you have to sign for...(am I right or wrong on this?) it's possible I might get a delivery on tuesday. ^_^
EDIT: DHL attempted to deliver today, but nobody was home to sign for my laptop. I called the number on the slip they left on the door, and the woman I talked to (Who was very nice and patient with someone fluttering about nervously ^_^) called the delivery person and asked when they would arrive back at their shipping center, and gave me the option of having someone pick it up there when he returned or having it delivered tomorrow. I was all for asking my father to stay late at work (near the shipping center) to wait for the delivery guy to return, but he didn't take to that. It looks like I'll be getting my 1420 tomorrow. -
When I ordered an M1330 back in December, DHL left the box sitting out in front of the house. I was home, but the delivery person didn't knock on the door, he/she just left a big box with Dell written all over it there for anyone wondering by to see and take.
That one had the noise problem, so they sent me a 2nd one next day delivery. Once again, the DHL delivery person just threw it down by the front door and left. This time it was raining. Luckily I was home and discovered it before it got completely soaked.
