DHL Shipping... is Shipping Right?

So Dell shipped my order May 25th, 2008. Scheduled to arrive on May 29th. Though today, May 27th, it still shows the exact same status and its already 7:31PM over here. I can understand the Status not updating on Memorial Day, but... it feels like it hasn't even moved at all.

Can I still expect the package on Thursday? I live in Maryland, so I guess its not that far from Tennessee. Are they purposely holding it there? Have you guys received your laptop orders on the day Dell estimates?

 

You wont get another scan until it hits your local DHL storage, where it will sit overnight. Then it will go out the next day.

That allows them to deliver many products in one run, allowing more cost effective shipping and lets them make lower prices since they can plan out optimized routes.

 

My guess is that it didn't do anything at all between May 25 and today. May 25 was Sunday, and May 26 was a holiday. When dell "shipped" your order on May 25, I'm sure they mean that the shipping info was completed and sent to the carrier (DHL). But today was the first busines day since then. My guess is DHL picked up your box (or will) from it's origin tonight. You'll probably see some sort of origin scan later this evening indicating that DHL has actually taken possesion of it.

 

And the 2-3 days starts from when DHL has it in their possession I would assume.

 

I've gone into the phase of no longer watching unboxing videos, but refreshing my DHL Tracking every 30 mins or less. Then googling up reading about how people have complained about DHL's shipping how some people didn't get their packages on time, or got their package but tracking number never updated, or some DHL guy delivers a Dell Laptop and when he drove home and saw the delivery guy, he dropped the box from chest height, turned around, and back kicked the door to suffice as a knock. If anyone can confirm whether Dell's estimated delivery date is correct... it would make me feel much less stressed out cause I'm really anticipating my order to come on Thursday. I'm still refreshing my status and it's still the same... nothing updated....

I'm hoping because Maryland is relatively close to Tennessee... they can deliver it to me by Thursday by initiating transit tomorrow.

 

My guess is that you'll not see any updates until after midnight tonight. It'll get an origin scan indicating that they've received it, and then a destination scan as they load it onto a truck. Probably the WRONG truck. It is DHL we're talking about.

Couldn't begin to guess about the transit time from Tennessee to Maryland. You'd think two days would be about right, but again...DHL.

 

I ordered mine 5/18 DHL got it 5/23 and right now it is in a hub an hour away, it got there sunday. Kind of weird but I got the email "i set up email notification"... "5/25/2008 11:32 pm Transit through DHL facility" is what my tracker says and has been there since or hasn't gotten far since. I'm expecting it tomorrow or Thursday. Hopefully tomorrow :*( Anyone know what transit through facility means? It went from Michigan to Minnesota in one day I hope it can do an hour drive in a day.

 

Whats the estimated ship date that it says in Dell's order status page?

 

I don't know but mine should arrive by there estimated date. My mom ordered a monitor a few days ago and it will arrive by the estimated ship date to. It has 3 days to get from Michigan to Minnesota... I would be a little hairy with there day give or take a day what kind of shipping did you do 3-5 day?

 

Yeah i did 3-5 day, but on the Dell site, it gave me an estimate that it will be delivered by 5/29. I used the DHL shipping estimator on the DHL page that accounts for memorial day, and it also came up with the calculation of 5/29.

 

Holy crud! This is interesting. It was in Tennesee, but then went in transit for one minute and within that minute it ended up in Pennsylvania! And somehow, DHL managed to pick it up on Sunday!

Before 5 minutes ago my tracking info was just this:

I think I can safely assume it will come on thursday. YES!!!

Yeah, me printing the picture on my Kodak printer, screaming and flailing about. I'll even record me playing WoW on 800x600 minimum and lagging on my DV9000us and smashing it.

 

My order just arrived at the local DHL facility. Instead of waiting for it to be delivered tomorrow, I called DHL to arrange for me to pick it up this morning.

Well like I posted in other thread. DHL denied me lol it came today while I was at school at 9:15 to be exact so I got a pretty little note saying I wont get it till tomorrow be home or leave it in porch.... I cant believe he didn't just leave it with my good neighbors there old and nice. I wanna call DHL and tell them to wrap it up as a gift since they just crushed my hopes of being able to get some time to play with it when I get it.

 

Dell Ground 3-5 day shipping arrived in the equivalent of 2 day shipping, or next day.
