Does anyone know what type of rebate you get if your package comes late?

I had next business day shipping, it was shipped on Friday, so I should be expecting it on Monday the 7th, but the expected arrival date is Tuesday the 8th.

You can call Dell and get a refund on the shipping. Give them a call after the package arrives.

The DHL shipping guaranty is thus: If DHL handles your package, something is guaranteed to go wrong.

I used to think that UPS was bad but DHL has taken that prize. They have to be the worst of the big 3...by a large margin.

Lol, well said :p. If a company ships with DHL then i just won't buy from them. Another problem i had with them was, my package came but no one was home. They left a note. I called and asked if i could pick up the package. They were like, "no." Every other company lets me pick up a package so i asked why. The lady on the phone was like, "this is customer service, the packages are in the back room, we'd have to go and bring the package to the front of the building."

    Talk about LAZY!

I have not had a problem with DHL. a couple months a go i bought 2 things at 2 separate times. the first time he left a note, so i called up and thye said i could pick it up after 6pm. at around 5pm the DHL guy actually came back and i didn't have to pick it up myself. the second purchase, the guy remembered and delivered it right when i got home. maybe i haven't used DHL enough yet.

My 1530 is being shipped with DHL. Do I have to be home to get it? If not, there is no DHL store that I know of near me, where would I go to pick it up?

Yes you have to be home. My computer required a signature but it could be signed by anyone. And yes DHL does suck, but they won't do anything to correct their mistake they'll tell you to contact DELL. And depending on what you say to dell you could get some money or you might not. My package arrived late and DHL did diddley squat. I call DELL and they gave me a 25 dollar coupon.. after waiting on the phone for over 30 minutes.

Hmmm dunno if it would be worth contacting dell in my case. The next day shipping came free with the laptop. So even though it normally costs $69, to me, it was nothing. I'm not sure they'd be willing to give a refund on that.

Regardless of whether it was free or not though, I expected a service and I didn't receive the service. I think I'll give DHL a ring. If they won't budge, I guess I could try Dell, never hurts to ask.

DHL won't give you money they'll give money to DELL for their refund. First make sure DELL shipped your package next day and not ground. I asked for DELL to ship next day and they shipped it ground.

DHL is horrible. Always late and my packages are messed up.

Why did Dell switch from UPS to DHL?

They probably got better deals from DHL. We were using both FedEx and UPS and UPS rep came one day and had meeting with our boss and shipping manager, and now we are on UPS only. It's not about the consumer, it's about how cheaply can company ship the goods to consumer. Unless they have major issue, I doubt they will change their carrier. And I thought we had a option for perferred carrier at final checkout?

That's true, except if people complain about it enough, it becomes about the customer and contributes to the financial side too. There's already a topic on Dell IdeaStorm, if you really don't like DHL you can register vote for it. It's currently not very high on the list.
