Pretty sure that link is just for the OS and the drivers/utility CDs, but I could be wrong.

Make sure you copy your CD key for Office before you format.

If you don't have it, you can download and install a keyfinder or something like this: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html to retrieve it.

Doesn't Dell still include clean OS discs and other CDs to reinstall the included software?

yes, that form's there in case you lose them.

I do believe that the form also covers software that you added to your system during configuration as well.

my situation is unusual. i got my laptop as part of my exit from my employer so i don't have the disks. i could probably get them from them but frankly i would rather go to Dell provided the cost is nominal. however, i am attempting to establish whether Dell is an option especially on the Office disk.

Oh good! Thanks for letting me know, as to me that's been a big selling point for Dell (wish every company did it).

Yeah, sounds like that's the way to go assuming it can include Office too.

Yup, Dell has been pretty good lately, at least with my last experience. Despite being connected to a CS in India and being put on hold for 20+ minutes, they shipped out a restore disk via overnight express :)
