I am sitting at a DELL Inspiron 600m connected to the SONY Bravia Full HD over VGA cable (analog not digital).

I want to set the resolution to 1920 by 1080, but the lappy won't let me do it, the resolution doesn't show up.

I go into the ATI driver and override the DDC information, now it lets me set it to 1920 by 1080: the LCD complains, claiming that it is not a resolution it can display.

BTW.: all attempts were made at 60Hz.

how can I get it to use the entire darn screen? thanks!

current and reported max resolution is 1400 by 1050.

I have a 600m and I use the Dell D-Port PR01X and a DVI-to-HDMI cable to connect it to a HDTV. It works flawlessly.

One suggestion is to try to play around with the actual display settings on the TV unit.
