I was checked out RAM on newegg.....was going to get 1gb for my new computer, then upgrade later via newegg.

But I looked at the sticky post for changing RAM, that looks ridiculous! I don't really need 4gb (its just the same price as 2gb via DELL)....is it really that complicated? It was real simple on my old HP.

Oh, getting 1gb of Ram from Dell, is that 1 1gb chip, or two 512s?

It is not as hard as it looks. One slot under the computer. The other one under the keyboard.

You just carefully pop the plastic strip above the keyboard using the slot on the right hand side of the strip. Use a small phillips screwdriver to remove two screws holding the keyboard and lift it up and the slot is right there.

OK, taking off the keyboard seemed risky

    I think I'll go for the 1gb a pick up a 2gb on newegg....since it won't support over 3gb

If you want 3 GB, you may still have to open the top if you have a 512 in it.

****, I hope it doesn't have a 512 in it, then I'll have to buy a 1gb too! Maybe I ought to go $75 for the 2gb on DELL and not mess with it.

My old comp has ram I can take...but its not DDR2
