I noticed the specs for an AMD-based Studio 15 in my Studio 15 manual, but never heard anything else about it. I thought it was possibly a planned model that hadn't been released or had been canceled...or perhaps only sold outside of the U.S. market.

In any case, about 15 of these Studio 1536 units are showing up in inventory at the DELL Outlet. They're categorized as 'Certified Refurbished', all are Midnight Blue and they range in price from $579 to $599.

They all appear to have the 2.0GHz AMD Turion X2 RM-70 processor and ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3200 integrated graphics.

    FYI-
The original Intel-based Studio 15 is the 1535
The AMD-based version mentioned above is the 1536
The new Intel (Centrino 2) version is the 1537

I'm curious about these oddball 1536 models...

I know that the Inspiron 1526 was a Best Buy-only model originally. Then it appeared as a CTO model on the regular Dell site, but it's way over-priced compared to the 1525.

I've never seen any reference on the Best Buy site to the Studio 1536, though. I just checked again and all Best Buy has are 1535 models- older ones with the Intel T8100 and the newest ones with the Intel T5800.

No, they sell 1536 online and in the store. It comes with an AMD Turion processor. My friend bought one herself.
