test the hard drive in question using an external enclosure and test it. If the drive is not appearing in the BIOS, then it is most likely an electronics failure on the hdd

    Hi pankmutha,

As yeuemmaimai mentioned, this could be an issue with the Hard Drive. Please remove the battery and the AC adapter from the Laptop and press and hold the Power button for approximately 20 seconds to release static power. Then try login to the BIOS page by pressing the ‘F2’ key at the Dell logo during startup.

If the system still doesn’t respond on Dell Logo try re-seating the Memory modules. You can use the link mentioned below to find the instructions to re-seat the Memory modules.

    Documentation

Once you enter the BIOS, under the Main tab please locate ‘Fixed hard Drive’ and ‘HDD Size’ options and confirm that the Hard Drive is detected by the System.

If the Hard Drive is not detected, consider re-seating it. Please use the link mentioned below to find instruction on reseating the Hard Drive.

    Documentation

If the hard Drive is detected in the BIOS, please run an outside operating system diagnostics (PSA / 32 bit diagnostics) on the hardware components, which will help us, identify if there is an issue with the Hard Drive or any other components. Please find the below mentioned link for information on ‘Outside Operating System Diagnostics’.
