i dont understand how can they think of doing this when VISTA is not a Stable and Compatible with all the applications. its a big threat to their sales and their Marketing Team needs to revisit this issue!!!

i suggest them to give prospective buyers like me to select the OS of their choice and not to force us to buy VISTA which does not meet my needs!!!!

How do you figure that it's not stable enough for public release? Vista has been Beta tested for over two years now, and once the manufacturers have tested their drivers, an OS is ready to go.

If you are saying that it's annoying to have to get used to a new layout and/or look, that's a different story.

Vista is now stable enough I've beta tested it since Beta 1, it's the drivers by Nvidia and the like that are not thus far ;)

Thats the present trend when a new OS launches, the old one gets phased out really quick on new machines to populate an installed base, its just the way it works, and in turn significantly reduces the time it takes to resolve issues with the OS, more users means more problems found and reported.

@Iceman0124: Couldn't of said it better myself! Vista is in the same boat as XP is right now. Compatibility issue abound. They will be ironed out with time.

I thought Vista had lots of problems before I upgraded too, and I also advised others not to upgrade ... But after I tried it, it is not that bad. It it very stable.

Also, I loved how Vista blocks unauthorized attempts to run programs. Some people thinks it is annoying but I liked it. One time I was browsing the web with IE and I wasn't downloading anything. And the security alert popped up asking me whether to run and .exe file with admin rights... I feel glad that I actually got a chance to say no :)
