    Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 / 6400 laptop that won't boot up. When it's plugged in with the fully charged battery inside it and you press the power button the three lock lights by the standby button light up and stay lit for about 5 seconds, then they shut off. That's all this notebook will do. I've tried very hard to find out what the problem is because I'm not rich but all I can come up with is it needs a new motherboard. I have taken it completely apart and when examining the motherboard there are no burnt out circuits that I can see and the CPU & GPU underneith the cooling rail were clean in good shape. Before I took it apart I tried all the different methods changing out the ram cards, trying one ram card in each slot, every method I could find online I tried and none of them worked. So now since I have no idea what's wrong with the board looks like it needs a new one. Well while doing research into my problem I noticed that a lot of people were talking about how the Inspiron E1505 / 6400 can directly fit many different motherboards or at least a few different ones. The one that I have that doesn't power on is the one that has the 1.83 Ghz IT2400 Intel CPU. If anyone knows which is the best replacement motherboard to get and maybe where could I get one for a decent price that is reliable would be great. Also if anyone has any clue why my old one won't power on that would be even better. Thanks in advance for any help!!

There's only two different motherboards for the E1505: the one with integrated graphics and the one without. If you currently have one with integrated graphics, you should not buy the one without, as you will need to but the discrete GPU as well (though it's relatively cheap). If you currently have the one with discrete graphics, you can buy either, but obviously if you buy the one with integrated graphics, you can't use your discrete GPU.

That being said there are multiple part numbers for each board, but you can basically ignore them as the boards are all effectively the same.

I'm seeing good mobos starting at around $50 on eBay, which is more or less what I'd expect.
