    Hi All,

I Recently bought a DELL Latitude Laptop from a freind from work for £45, everyone works fine apart from the battery.

I took the battery out and pushed the white button and none of the indicators lit up..

--from this point on i have the AC power cable pluged in--
--with out the AC power the laptop doesnt turn on at all---

also when looking in the BIOS and in windows XP, it showed that the battery was not present.

After taking out the battery and blowing on the power connators, I replaced it into the latop and still I was faced with the same problem.
I assumed the battery was dead.

So I bought a new battery from Ebay..
It came today, and I pushed the white button and all the lights lit up!
I swaped the old battery for the new on and turned on the power, but again Windows XP and the BIOS said there was no battery present.

I swaped the battery over to the other slot and still the same problem.
I thought maybe the battery was flat, but again as the AC power is pluged in there no indication that the battery is charging.

does anyone know what could be wrong?
