Hey guys,
I had to send in my laptop to the Dell repair center in TX last week to have the screen replaced, I received it back on Friday (8/30.) I kept my hard drive for obvious reasons, I reinstalled the drive once I got the laptop back. Upon boot-up (right after I see the Dell logo), I get a message in the top, left portion of the screen with the following message: "Checking Media_ [Fail]."
It seems Dell, when using one of their hard drives to test out my system (once the repairs were done) changed something under the F2 or F12 function buttons regarding the boot sequence and I can't figure out what I'm suppose to change to get rid of this message, there is nothing wrong with my hard drive and it was not doing this before I removed the drive, sent the system into Dell, got it repaired and then returned to me.
I called them to get help in fixing the issue but they would not assist me because my system is out of warranty. They don't seem to care they I just spend almost 400 bucks with them for repairs & a change they made which they forgot to put back the way it was and refuse to help me fix the issue unless I give them more money.
I have done a Google search on the issue (that's where I came up about the F2 or F12 keys) but I can't seem to figure out what I'm suppose to change and how to go about changing it. Apparently the boot order has been changed in my system and it's suppose to be showing the hard drive first in the list and it's not...some directions I have seen online don't seem to match up to what I'm seeing when I go under the F2 or F12 menu's.
Any help would be appreciated. The laptop still boots up but it's annoying seeing this every time I turn on the machine or reboot.
Thanks!

Try restoring bios default settings
-
Can you give instructions on how to do this? I'm pretty sure I did it already but it made no difference.
-
While in BIOS, press F9 to choose Load Optimized Defaults. If that does not help, try hit F12 while booting to enter Boot Menu and see if there is your drive on the list (if it's there, select it).
-
So what once I fix this it should show in the following order for boot menu/order:
Windows Boot Manager (followed by brand name of hard drive name)
UEFI Onboard LAN IPv4
UEFI Onboard LAN IPv6
Then save and exit and boot back up? -
I think thats how it should be.
-
I think so to, according to every result I found via Google, that's what everyone was posting in forums that the order should be in. I'm at work so I'll check it out when I get home later today and report back.
Thanks
