Okay, So I was watching a Family Guy episode off the internet probably not a good idea, but About half way through it started to freeze up and skipping. It then immediately went to a blue screen for a about 5 seconds with numbers and letters and shut off. I turned it back on. It loads a little and comes up to Windows has found a error or something. Says Start in Safe Mode (Windows Recovery Repair) SOmething like that. I click it and it just keeps bringing me back to the same page. Now when I click the option just underneath that it says Start Windows normally. It starts to load and Boom Blue screen comes up for like .5 seconds and shuts off and starts this whole process over again by starting up. I don't know if this is the right forum, but if someone could put it in the right one for me and any help would be much appreciated? Is everything lost on my computer? It won't bother me if it is, but I am just wondering.

Same thing happened to my cousin, I guess there were too many background programs running and his laptop couldn't handle the pressure, so we reformatted and reinstalled vista and presto, she was working like she just came from the factory. If you kept your manual and the re installation disk you can follow the directions and do it yourself. I don't know if it will work for you, but it worked for us.

It could be a number of things. memory, corrupt file, etc.
Need the code from the blue screen that will flash up
Try safe mode and see what happens then.
