I know this model has the option for a 144hz 1080p ips panel, but I purchased the one with the standard 60hz WVA panel. After digging a lot, I have found many 60hz panels that should work, and have actually ordered the N156HCE-EN1 which has superior colors and a slightly better response time. I've now also discovered that this laptop has a 40pin edp connector on the mobo that branches off into the camera and a 30 pin edp to the display. So it seems that with the right 40pin edp cable, you could be able to buy the same panel as the more expensive model which I'm assuming has a B156HAN08.0 display, but the problem is finding the right cable. The cable on this laptop has one of those shelled pin connectors that connect to the mobo that look like the one closest to the camera in this pic: [IMG]
But then after finding a 40 pin edp cable that has the right connector, the issue is finding one with the right webcam connection thing, which I'm not even sure of what it does. Would it be possible to buy a 40 pin EDP cable and rewire it to work with the existing webcam connector that comes off of the original cable?

If any of you want to also chime in on this, I'd be glad to hear it, as I'm personally also trying to see if I should return the display that I have on order and buy the b156han08, or just hold on to it.

Cable aside that panel you ordered I think is meant for the older style laptops with thicker bezels. The panel is the same size but the metal housing that surrounds the display is different.

If it does fit that would be good to know too. The bezels on the 3590 are on the thinner side but not too thin

Well I know it would fit. I checked spec sheets etc... I'm not using a better panel atm though

Do the spec sheets discuss the metal housing that surrounds the panel?

Yes. Check the outline size which includes the housing if there is one.

    Hello!

I will be closely following this thread, as myself and I'm sure many others from a recent deal are avidly looking for a 120/144hz upgrade panel. Dell said that they did not have any option to sell me a 'replacement' 144hz panel, and I've gotten a few different 'part numbers' for the stock panel and cable that do not seem to correlate with anything on the internet:

    Panel: 390-BEON / GO0527R
    EDP Cable: 450-AAHV

    Dell configuration page:
    Panel: 25H3D
    EDP Cable: K1MP9

Someone on the slickdeals thread I'm following said they ran across a possible candidate in the Asus TUF FX505DU panel, and that notebook check indentified the panel as a Sharp/Panda LM156LF-GL.

Not sure any of this information helps as per above you were stating that the cable may pose an issue. Let us know what you find out!

Hi Cavell219, would you care mentioning where you got it from? I see the price on some sites is higher than buying the 40pin panel plus the cable separately.

    Thanks!
