my first entry... this is pretty imformative..

i ordered my dell HOME 9300 on 4/13/05 6:11pm PST.. for $1111.37 total (tax and everythin included)...
    pent m 1.6
    wuxga truelife
    512ram
    64 ati
    40 gb
    2200 wireless....
    8x dvd rom

2 days later... dell SMALL BUSINESS was having a huge sale too..... total came out $1114.60(including tax and shipping)
    pent m 1.6
    wuxga truelife
    512ram
    128 ati
    60 gb (5400rpm)
    dvd/cd-rw
    2200 wireless....
with free dell 720 printer (crap printer, i knoe..)

so i cancelled my 1st order that day and ordered with small business....

my question is.. whats the difference between small business and home?????

i found out that dell HOME uses,
    """""""""Inspiron 9300 Intel® Pentium® M Processor 730 (1.60 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB) SM16HN [221-7304]"""""

    and dell SMALL BUSINESS uses,
    """""""""Inspiron 9300 Intel® Pentium® M Processor 730 (1.60 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB) SM16HM [221-7302]"""""

notice the product code (SM16HN and SM16HM) and the SKU number (221-7304 and 221-7302)is different.... are they using different parts??? im confused.. maybe thats whyit was on sale.. someone please help me...

oh and one other thing, i knoe alot of you already asked this question, but i still didnt get a straight answer... is truelife same as dell 700m style.. i.e. like mirror screen? i hope it is.. cause thats what i want... thanks guys...

The 9300 XGA screen is not glossy. The 9300 WUXGA screen IS glossy. I know because I have one that i'm typing on right now.

Regarding the Small Business v. Home purchases: I went through this, too. There is no difference that I am aware of. I think they just provide different prices, coupons, sales, and features from section to section. You'll find that they are even more different in the Government Employee section. I've done all three and, although I started at the Government Employee Purchase section, I ended up with the Small Business section for the better deal. You did the right thing. You'll see a lot of people complain about how our computers, even with the same hardware or software installed, will be different prices from day to day. I've seen different prices within the SAME day!

I have a WUXGA+ screen. It's glossy. Also beware that the native resolution is TINY and might need adjusting, depending on your preferences. There are two different manufacturers for the screens, so you might find your experience different.

    Inspiron 9300, Pentium M 1.6GHz, 1GB RAM, 256MB NVIDIA 6800 Go, 17" LPL WUXGA+ TrueLife,60GB HD, CD-+RW/DVD-+RW, Dell Wireless

If you get any kind of benny from work I think you may have to go through the business section too. I did when I bought mine.
