All of a sudden the battery is showing 8% and not charging with the power pack plugged in, took a power pack from another Dell and it showed same not charging, am i correct in figuring it is the battery because if it was the power pack it would probably shut down, which actually it did when i booted up without the battery pack plugged in, any feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Either the charger is faulty or the power board is faulty. It all leads down do the middle sensor pin in the charger and power jack. Go into your bios and see if it detects your ac adapter properly. If it says unknown even with a different power adapter then the power board is at fault.

my bet is the power plug in the laptop is broken in some way- its a common issue on the 1525

Not the cord- the internal piece in the laptop ( power board)

Ok, called Dell, i have the on-site warranty, they decided from the symtoms it is the mother board, they will call me in the next 2-3 days and send someone onsite to change. I pointed out i have weekends included but the Dell rep claimed they have to get the part. Ok, i can wait a few days. From others past experience, will they send someone competent or could this turn into a fiasco???? Thanks in advance.
