Maybe this post will make me feel better. I ordered a XPSM1330 around 6/30/07. The darn thing finally shipped on Aug 10th and arrived at my local DHL shipping company on the 14th. The next day the local contrator for DHL stopped delivering packages for about 2 or 3 weeks. So I call them and they inform me they have stopped delevering packages but that they have my package at the depot. In the mean time I am too busy moving into a new house and don't make the 50 mile drive to DHL to pick it up.
Finally I start seeing some DHL trucks start delivering packages in town so I call DHL up and they tell me it will be delivered by 5 pm that day. I have called them up 3 days in a row and get the same BS. Except today, I called and they told me my package is missing. So, I call DELL and get some lady who barely speaks english probably in INDIA, and she contacts DHL and they tell her they will deliver it tommorrow by 5. So, I call DHL back, and they tell me it will be delivered by 5 today and that they will page the driver and have him call me. Nothing has been heard.
I will never have anything shipped via DHL again. What a bunch of idiots. Now what should I do. I have smoke coming out of my ears.

cold shower.

Yup, the cold shower sounds like good advice. The only other option would put you in jail, and I doubt they'll let you bring your 1330 in with you.

Granted every shipper will have it's share of lost packages, and some areas will be more notorious at it than others, but in my experience Fedex has been better at controlling the beast that is shipping.
If it doesn't come today like they promised, it would be best to give them a visit first thing tomorrow.
Hope you get it "back".

So how did you get that shipped DHL anyway? Did you call and complain so Dell upgrade your shipping?
But really I think this story is BS anyway. -
As a part-time* employee of DHL I am obligated to say...
"DHL is on it!"
*I loaded their aircrafts as a means of getting through school, now I just work the early AM in order to maintain the ridiculously cheap union benefits (full medical for me, my wife, and daughter for $37 a month w/ $100 annual deductables---YOU CANNOT BEAT THAT!!). -
DHL is adding bad reputation to DELL!!! DHL delivered my XPS M1330 to 7-11.... DHL drivers are definitely idiot who cannot tell the correct address and probably don't give a shiet about the packages.
I reported the driver to DHL management and I am following up with them to get some action. I also email DELL my experience with DHL and mentioned that it was DHL reputation that is at risk. The bottom line is that DELL reputation is at risk by using unreliable carrier. -
yeah, one time, a had an empty return kit box get lost. (the lady said to ask dell for a new one, because the box was emtpy and not worth filing a lost package claim)
call dhl again, and this time, use 1-800-CALL-DHL
then ask for tracking
enter your tracking, and once the computer dude is done speaking crap, then say rep.
the rep should be nice and friendly, and be back like so. Say that your package hasn't shipped for 4 weeks and that you don't know anything about it. She will probably try and file a lost package claim. Don't lie about what's in the package, that will invalidate a possiblity of a refund and/or invalidate your lost package claim.
u also could get a refund (but dell paid for the shipping, so that doesn't work), but i think that is within the first 10 days.
i doubt this will actually work, but it is worth a shot, and if dell compensates you for another computer, then you might get 2. heh.
I think dell shouldn't use DELL boxes, because then shipping carrier workers with sticky hands might cause some problems. -
where do you live, what region is US?
caz I had my shipped through DHL and they were pretty efficient here in Texas. Two and a half day since, dell site reflected shipped status, I had the driver knocking on my door with my new laptop.
Please follow lambchops468's advice which is excellent, file a lost report if possible and as soon as you can, something tells me that waiting it out will just disappoint you even more. In case your laptop did arrive, you can always call back to cancel the report. -
good thing FED EX is shipping for me instead of dhl woot!

hehe, DHL is a great carrier. I've been using them for many years now, I can count on one hand how many problems I've had...and I've shipped and received a ton of things (via work and personal use)...
anyone who says DHL is not reputable is a moron. I feel bad for the OP, but a few mistakes are inevitable...
Now if you want to talk about sub-par...take my mailman..who for some reason loves taking envelopes that say "Do not bend" and then bending them to squeeze them into my mailbox... -
I also had good experience with DHL so far, on quite a few occasions. As a matter of fact, they delivered my Vostro one day earlier than they were estimating, I was pleasantly surprised.
Now, USPS on the other hand - that's another story... They NEVER even attempt to deliver ANY packages to my door - they just stick a note into my mailbox "We missed you... come get your package yourself, sucker"... while I am ALWAYS at home (work from home, 100% of the time)... I quite complaining already and just try to avoid using their service whenever possible.
Sorry to hear about your delay though, I know exactly how you feel.
DELL + DHL = HE?L 4 weeks since shipped
