Here you go. I can find no defects with this system. The only complaint I have is that I probably should have went with the WXGA+. Somebody asked about cord length on the adapter so I snapped a shot of that too.

The rest. I forgot to mention I yanked the 1 SODIMM and installed 2 sticks of crucial. Yes, one stick was under the keyboard. If anybody is wondering, the brand of memory that came with my D830 was hynix.

Thanks so much for your input. I am curious why you now prefer WXGA+. May I also know in what situations you use your D830. I am a software programmer and I have Insprion 9300 with WUXGA, which I think it is very nice. Is WUXGA not useful on D830? Text too small?

    Many thanks in advance!

I bought the WXGA because I don't like small text; however, I think I could have handled a little smaller text over what the WXGA displays.

Situations: Mostly docked at home but like to carry on vacation and to the office if need be. I just sold my D610 that I loved and had no issues with whatsoever. Just felt it was time to upgrade and thought going with a larger screen was "mo better" since I am not a road warrior. To be honest, I would have been just as happy with the D630 if I would have bought that.

Unfortunately, last I checked, they don't offer WXGA+ on the D830. It's just WXGA, WSXGA+, and WUXGA. WSXGA+ makes the text a little small for my taste... but I'd get it anyway and just fiddle with the DPI to make the text a little bigger.

acts837: Are you happy with the screen (brightness, contrast, sharpness, overall appearance) apart from the resolution?

MDDZ: WSXGA+ on 15.4" will have similar pixel density (DPI) to WUXGA on 17". WUXGA on a 15.4" will be significantly denser.

Today I saw a D820 of a colleague's. Does D830 look same or very similar to D20 in terms color/size?

    Thanks!

Pretty much everything should be the same except the insides of it, and they might have made the screen brighter, I'm not really sure.

    Newbie here:
I have heard of people buying Vista Basic, and then upgrading to ultimate later. does this save money? How does it work?
If i get WUXGA (the highest resolution) - can i change the resolution later if the text is too small to read, or am I stuck?
