Hi everyone. I just got my new D820 in the mail today and I love it except for one thing. There is an almost constant high pitch sort of beeping noise coming from it. It starts right when windows loads and usually doesn't go away for awhile, and if it does go away it will usually come back.

It is not coming from the speakers because I have muted them and it does no help. What is this noise? Is it the graphics card? I have the NVIDIA Quadro 120. Someone please help, I don't want to have to return this laptop for this.

If it is not coming from the speakers, it is coming from the motherboard, usually it signals a problem, but if you have checked to make sure all your drivers are installed correctly (sound, vid card, etc....,) then I would report it to dell. Unless u have no warranty, then I hope you are good at soldering.

Thanks for the info. How can I check my drivers? Would I still need to check them if I just got my computer brand new today?

I called Dell support and he had me boot the system up in diagnostic mode and run some tests. Everything seemed to be fine. He said if it keeps up I could return it for a new system.

I'm not sure what to do, other than the noise the system is fine. Is this common for D820's? Anyone else that has a D820 notice something like this? It seems to do it more when I bring it back from hibernation or standby mode. It's like a high frequency, high pitch noise or beeping, does not seem to be coming from the speakers.

I have a D820 and have not noticed any noises like this. I'd return it for another one.
