Hi. I just got a D820, including the D/Port Advanced Port Replicator. I would like to know whether I can dock onto the replicator while my computer is turned on. I've read the documentation, but there are some contradictions.

Does anyone have direct experience with this?

Also, the 90W AC adapter that came with the replicator seems the same as the replicator for my computer, except for the revision number (A01 for replicator, A02 for computer). Can the port replicator adapter be used for the computer?

    Thanks in advance,
    val_mz

Hi, paap2020. I just want to make sure I don't fry anything in the computer by experimenting with power-related issues.

From your answer, I assume that you've done both of these things (docked while computer is powered up and used the replicator adapter directly to the computer) successfully. Thanks for your reply.

    Lovin' my new computer,
    val_mz :)

Yes, I have the port replicator and you can undock and dock with it on and used the my other adapter.

Just curious, what screen do you have. And if you use your stick, let me know if you have any problems with it moving by itself.

Hi, paap2020. Thanks again for your reply.

In response to your questions, I have the Samsung WUXGA, and no I don't have any problems with the stick mving by itself. I have both the trackpad and pointing stick turned on, but rarely use the stick.

    Hope that helps.

You can dock and undock while the computer is running. But windows (linux is fine) will probably give you a bluescreen when you dock. (undock should work fine if you use the undock button). The AC are no problem.
