I just received my replacement D820 in the mail today. The first one had a crapass keyboard where the keys were so loosely fitted that it jiggled everytime I sent the laptop down. But that's not why I received a replacement... Here be me thoughts:

    Pros

I LOVE the design and the color scheme. People rip on the Latitude line for its bland looks, but I happen to like the understated elegance. I also LOVE the screen. Again, a lot of people rip on the Latitude line for poor quality screens, but both of mine were flawless, crisp and bright. The keyboard for my replacement is nice, but I really wish Dell (and the rest of the industry) would step it up and at least match the legendary ThinkPad keyboards. The contrast in feel is stark.

    Cons

Inconsistent build quality...! The first one had a crappy keyboard and a WiFi switch that didn't work. The replacement one that I got today had a working WiFi switch, but the volume buttons at the top require a LOT of pressure to work. The volume buttons on the first one worked amazingly well and I kept making mental notes of this whenever I used my laptpop at school. Back to the WiFi on switch... The D820 has the absolute WORST Wi-Fi on switch in the industry (and I've played around with MANY, MANY laptops). There's more play in this poorly designed switch than there is in Paris Hilton's cooter. It's not just the play, but it doesn't slide easily and no matter what I do, I always end up activating the WiFi Seeker. It's a pain having to close the pop up screen each and every single time. It's definately not going to hold up well over the years... and there's no Fn switch to access the WiFi...!

So yeah, I've got a better keyboard and a working WiFi switch now... but I have to push REALLY HARD on the volume buttons on the replacement.

I don't think I am being unreasonable, as the WiFi switch and the volume buttons are features I use quite frequently. Anyone else?

    Doesn't sound unreasonable to me.
