    Hello there,

I have benchmarked the D630 with NVS 135m graphics card. I got the laptop yesterday on July 2nd, but was too busy moving into my new apartment. Any who, here are the scores.

Please note that i will post 2 threads. One for stock 1GB of memory, second thread will be 4GB of memory. Well, i hope the following scores help when buying your new laptop

Also my computer has not been formatted.

*** Here is the link for the other 3D mark test using 4GB of memory instead of 1GB

Not bad. Performance is about as good as a go7400.

Is this with the stock NVS 135m drivers from Dell or the normal nvidia drivers from laptopvideo 2go

I tried changing the drivers with laptopvideo 2go.

What I did was change the drivers to those of the 8400M GS. As a result, the screen basically went dead and I had to roll back the drivers in safe mode.

So either the 135M is not quite close enough to an 8400M GS, or the drivers on that site kind of suck.

This was stock driver. I have performed the 2GB tests, but it was very similar to the 1GB test. I will have the 4GB memory test in about 1 hour.

Try the drivers for the other video cards. They work, and have increased my windows experience index score.

888 score with a 3D Mark06 is not bad. It is not great, but good enough for me.

On "high performance" - max brightness, graphics work, etc. - I get about 1 to 1.5 hours out of it, although it 'says' I can get 2 hours.

If you go right up until the laptop shuts down I guess you might squeeze in 2 hours? I haven't really done a formal test.

Cobalic, how do you like Vista so far with the NVS?

It seems like me and net_xport feel like the drivers are still not ready for vista because it doesnt feel smooth.

This might be a dumb question, but how much game performance should I expect from this card? Will it be able to handle the newer games with a decent resolution? I'm about to purchase this laptop so I want to know how much should I expect from it. My laptop will consists of 2.00 GHz, 2GB RAM, and the NVIDIA Quadro card. (Sorry I don't know a whole lot about computer stuff.)

    - I tried halo on highest resolution with everything on high. It ran pretty smooth.
    - I also tried stronghold 2, it also ran smoothly.
    - I will try half-life 2 later.

If you can, hang on for tonight before making the orders, i'll actually do some more test with my games.

I dunno... I may not have as high standards as you guys, but it seemed fine to me (with Vista Business)? Did you guys try uninstalling some of the crap it comes with? I didn't do a clean install, but I killed anything I could find that didn't have a clear purpose (like google desktop)...

I installed Half life 2 (CS is still 'updating'). Only had like 10 minutes to play it, but runs smooth on medium settings so far. No big surprises here.

I downloaded "ForceWare X 101.43" and I'll try updating the drivers that way once I get home. It says the 135M is in the list of supported card, unlike the last modded drivers I downloaded and tried to use :)))

    Oh and - I'm using a 6 cell battery.

Maybe clarify what you mean by 'smooth'?

On the subject of new games - Oblivion crawls at the lowest settings. Installing it took like 10 minutes, but the game is smooth-ish when walking around. As soon as you go near anything else that moves, it drops to like 10 FPS.

Which I think is a little ridiculous, considering Half Life looks way better, and runs much faster on higher settings. Big kudos to the HL2 developers.

I'm not disappointed with the d630 at all.
I'm more disappointed with the immature driver that the nvs 350 seems to have for vista (maybe its just me)
Now that I'm running XP, I'm loving it.
By smooth, i meant Vista itself, not games. It would feel weird moving a window and playing with aero.

At first, i did make a reinstall of vista ultimate before anything.

    Anyhow, It's a great computer.
I'm going to try some games soon and give an update (mainly CS:S and Civilization IV)

I tried Half Life 2 with every settings on max, with Anti-aliasing on 2x and it ran really smooth, also HDR is on.

Do you think my Dell Latitude D630 with the 135m will be able to run Team Fortress 2 when it is released in October?

to Homer_Jay_Thompson: By the looks of the screen shots, i think 135m will do just fine. You see, i have everything on max in half-life 2. This includes 2X AF and 2X AA. It ran really smooth, but i think this is due to the amount of ram i have on my computer.

BTW, what processor did you get for you system.

To be honest, i got the D630 with the graphics card for old school game and emulator games; and maybe for my work and projects, but not heavy duty gaming. I save that for my PC at home. I hope the benchmarks i did helped you guys.

Yeah, your system will do just fine if not excellent. As long as the developers don't do anything fancy like Crysis. 135m is good enough.

    - I tried Stronghold 2 and Age of Empire 3, and they all ran good. I'm not complaining.

    Thanks pt01:

**I will test the following games in the next few days:
    1) Fear
    2) Far Cry

**Games i have played and tested:
    1) Age of Empire III: I put everything on max, with decent resolution. The game ran fine. Some lags when there's massive action at once. No problem with me though.
    2) Stronghold 1 and 2: Both games ran solid smooth.
    3) Half-Life 2: Everything on max, also with 2x AA and 2xAF. Game ran pretty smooth. If i turned off 2xAA and 2xAF, it gets even better.
    4) Halo: Every settings on high, and 1440 X 900 resolution. The game ran pretty decent with some lags where's there much explosion, other than that, the FPS is smooth.

Does anybody here know how i could get average frame rates for the games i'm playing. Any programs that could tell you the frame rate of the games? Let me know, and i'll update all of the above games.

I only play one computer game (Flight Simulator X) on my desktop, so I am unable to compare it to the games listed in this topic, but will the Quadro NVS 135M be able to play this game on medium/standard/factory settings? Under the video card requirement, it says "DirectX 9.0c compliant video card with 32mb of ram and support for hardware transformation and lighting". I am hearing conflicting information, but I think I might settle on the D630 if the video card can handle FSX. If it can't, would it be worth it to get some sort of external card, or should I go with the Vostro 1400 with the GeForce 8400M GS?

My desktop runs the GeForce 6600 GT (if this means anything, I know it is not an apples to apples comparison).

    Thanks for any help!
