Maybe this has already been posted. I didn't see this yesterday. Don't know how big of a deal that is...I'm probably going integrated but some people might like it.

The video card does have 128MB of dedicated memory and not 64 dedicated and 64 shared.

Looks like the D830 has discrete options now:

    128MBNVIDIA®QuadroNVS135M™ [add $70]

    256MBNVIDIA®QuadroNVS140M™ [add $130]

Based on Nvidia's website, Quadro NVS is a business graphic solution ... what does that mean? ... I am guessing it is not a huge improvement over Intel integrated graphic...

For example, is it good enough to play F.E.A.R?

With stock drivers gaming performance may not be optimal, but you can always install updated 'normal' drivers from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com.

And as far as I know,
    • NVS 135M = 8300go
    • NVS 140M = 8400go
Only difference being drivers. They'll both be big steps up from intel integrated graphics unless Intel really steps up with their drivers for the X3100.

How much does this discrete GFX card change the battery life of the d630? Any thoughts? Will it be a lot or just like its going down from 5:30 to 5 or so?

How is it compared to the integrated Gfx?

And what about the power of this card! Could you give some guesses on fps in some games or just say if you think it runs fluid (>30-40fps) or not?

I actually called a Dell sales rep about a D630. There was 0 call waiting time, and overall I'm pretty impressed by the customer service. Anyway, here's what he told me:

The dedicated graphics card is available for order, but the computer won't leave the factory for 20 days if it is configured with the 135M. That's 3 weeks. EDIT: I bought a D630. I decided that waiting 3 weeks was better then waiting 2 but constantly checking.

Also, the sales rep sent me a price quote thats like $100 off the price I got online. I'm gonna keep that, and if Lenovo pulls any more BS on me I know where to go.

Gokukiller - search the forum for that. I remember someone mentioning FPS's for the 140M - might have been in the Lenovo forum. Fron what I remember, the 140M was capable of 'fluid' fps in CS:S. Something about doing like 70fps on an empty map. I forget exactly.

I just ordered my second d630. I also got the NVS 135M, a 7200 rpm 80GB HD, the extra high resolution lcd screen (these are the parts that will delay build time). My preliminary ship date is 7/7/07 (placed this order on the 15 of June).

Also note that i got the same configuration 2 days earlier and the preliminary ship date was 7/16/07. (this order was placed on 13 of June). It's good that i have canceled this one. Basically dell website is never consistent. And if you keep checking back frequently, you might get faster shipping date, or a better deal for the same configurations. I will be going now...

mine is shipping on the 7/17 and I ordered on 6/12, whats up with that? Did you modify the config when you made the new order that made it ship earlier?

Yes, the exact configurations. NO change whatsoever. Also note, I help run a part of my parent's business, so i have ordered many pcs from dell before. From experience, i don't think the date matters at all. There were many orders that i've placed that said to be received in 3 or 4 or even more weeks, but ends up delivering on the ~2.5 weeks. What i think is that, if dell has the parts and employees, they'll build it. Maybe you might get yours before mine. Any who, when i get my laptop, I'll post here.

I dunno. My D630 with the 135m has a ship date of 7/9, and when I went back there a few days ago their expected date was like 7/12.

If they pull a Lenovo on me I'm gonna order a Sony. :D

That's great you guys have D630's ordered. I'm very curious to hear how the 135m compares to the integrated graphics available with the 630 launch.

I'm curious. Did you guys opt for the T7700 or the T7500? The 2.2ghz is a lot cheaper, but the 2.4 gets a surprisingly better benchmarks. I have an e6600 on my desktop because the difference between that and the e6700 was negligable.

    Hi, jetsetter

Ahhh, so someone asked, i didn't want to brag about my laptop. B/C i know in a few months, dell is gonna release something more faster; no point of showing off. To answer your question, i got the T7700 2.4Ghz, i wanted something faster though, but Intel has not released it yet. For the hard drive i got only 80gb @ 7200. My reason for not getting any bigger hard drive is that it might crash.

Also purchased 4 gb (2x2) Patriot memory ram from frys. Just waiting patiently for the laptop to come home to install it. Also note, did you know that dell installs "hynix" rams into their latitude. I know this b/c i recently ordered a latitude D630. Ok, it might just be me, but i don't like hynix ram due to the fact that these are the same memory that was in a $500 compaq laptop i got for my sister last year. (????) I think if you were to select the option on dell website for 4gb memory-which costs around $700-i bet they give you "hynix" or "cheap" memory ram. Dell is rapping people asses. I'm very disappointed. Take my experience, don't buy memory rams from dell, b/c they're just a rip off.

Anyways, I got the 1 gb 2 dimms memory configuration, the cheapest option you MUST select from dell. Also note, if you selected the 1gb 1 dimm (extra $29), you get the vista basic label, however, if you selected the 1gb 2 dimms (no charge), you get the vista premium label. Honesty, i see no point of selecting any one them.

2.2ghz. The price difference was like a bazillion dollars, and I'm not even sure theres a big difference between 2.0 ghz and 2.2ghz.
