Hi all, I was looking for a docking station for my D630.
I have seen the D/PORT on the dell site, but it's a little pricy for a port replicator.. and it misses a firewire port.
Basically, I want to dock my laptop and get:
    - external DVI screen
    - external hard-disk (firewire)
    - external mouse-keyboard.

Are there any third-party manufacturers that sell compatible docking stations?
    Thanks!

    Hi,

I'm afraid a 3rd party dock station would have to be through USB... therefore you'd use all the advantage of the Firewire port...
D/port will however meet your needs of DVI and mouse/keyboard, and you can use your laptop's Firewire for the hard drive, but I guess that is not as comfortable as you hoped...

Not so comfortable, you are right. So the only option I have is to buy the D/dock (the larger one) and put a PCI firewire card in it? Feasible, but way too pricey...
So the D- connector is dell proprietary?

I would think so, but I haven't tried to dock my D630 on other brands' docking stations...
